Girl launches attack on boy at Chinese university over cat conversation
A girl assaulted a boy with a plate of rice over a cat conversation in northern China.
Video filmed in Tianjin University on June 13 shows a girl picking up a plate of roast duck and rice before abruptly leaving her seat. Approaching a boy seated diagonally opposite her, she swiftly dumped the entire contents of the plate onto his head.
With a bewildered expression, the stupefied student, engrossed in his phone, finds himself covered in rice.
Another clip shows the female student darting out of the canteen, pursued by three boys.
According to one of the male students involved, who wished to remain anonymous, the incident stemmed from a discussion about cat ownership. The male student claimed that during their conversation, he innocently mentioned that "some cats have very smelly feces." However, this remark apparently struck a nerve with the female student, who interpreted it as an insult to animals.
The three boys chased after the girl and she became confrontational, displaying a strong and unapologetic attitude. She even slapped another person during the argument.
Feeling aggrieved by the female student's refusal to apologise and her audacious behaviour, the male student decided to involve the authorities.
Eventually, after intervention and mediation from the police, the boy reluctantly agreed to a settlement. The female student was ordered to pay a compensation of 300 yuan (£34) and offer a face-to-face apology instead of a public one.
In response to the incident, the university's Party Committee Publicity Department released a statement on June 14, acknowledging the incident and assuring the public that they are actively investigating the matter.
The video was provided by local media with permission.
