STORYLINE:

Many foreign business leaders have voiced confidence in China's cross-border e-commerce businesses at the 2023 China (Langfang) International Economic and Trade Fair held in Langfang, north China's Hebei Province.

The five-day fair wraps up on Wednesday. It attracted nearly 400 exhibitors and for the first time established an exhibition area for foreign enterprises.

SOUNDBITE 1 (Chinese): HABIB-UR-REHMAN, PakPersian Carpets Shanghai Co. Ltd.
"The handicrafts from Pakistan that we brought here today are handmade in Pakistan. I hope we'll find an e-commerce partner here, and I think the fair is a good opportunity because so many e-commerce companies have gathered here."

SOUNDBITE 2 (English): TRAVIS HAEFELE, HR Manager for South Africa Region of Buffalo International Logistics (PTY) LTD
"I must say it's been a good show. We've been able to meet a lot of people, create new contacts, work hand in hand to provide better service to South Africa. I believe in my personal opinion that e-commerce is the way of the future. We live busy lives in a fast moving society, and China is bringing that to the rest of the world."

Official figures show the value of China's cross-border e-commerce imports and exports exceeded 2 trillion yuan (about 280.55 billion U.S. dollars) for the first time in 2022, marking an increase of 7.1 percent compared with 2021.
