A new river route on the Moscow River, operated by new eco-friendly vessels, known as "electric river trams", was launched in Moscow on June 20, 2023. President Putin and Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin attended the opening ceremony held on June 20, 2023. The vessels are equipped with two electric engines. The engines are charged at each stop to save time between voyages and maintain efficient headways. The interior of the electric river tram" features approximately 50 seats and boasts panoramic windows, tables, screens, and a WC for comfortable commuting. The vessels can operate during every season including in winters. The new eco-friendly river boats will be operating on the Moscow River as a regular public route.
