Two people were killed as a fuel tanker plummeted from a highway bridge, bursting into flames upon impact in southern China.

Video filmed in Baise City in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on July 1 shows thick black smoke billowing into the sky from a truck. The intensity of the fire and the engulfing smoke rendered the vehicle unrecognisable, shrouding its remains completely.

Once the voracious flames were extinguished, the scene that met the eyes was one of utter devastation, charred and blackened by the fire's wrath.

A local government official disclosed that the fuel tanker had flipped over and plummeted from the elevated bridge, leading to the destructive fire.

Tragically, both individuals in the vehicle were unable to escape the fiery carnage and lost their lives. An investigation into the cause of the accident is currently underway.
