Brave residents rescued a 6-year-old boy trapped on a second-floor balcony during a raging fire in a residential building in southern China.

Video filmed in Zhanjiang in Guangdong Province on July 19 shows showing a plume of smoke billowing out of a second-floor flat and a boy pacing back and forth on the balcony as bystanders hastily erect a metal ladder outside the burning apartment.

A man dressed in red, identified as Liang Yongyu, who owns a shop nearby, climbed up the ladder, smashed the balcony's glass door with a hammer, and cut through the anti-theft mesh with pliers.

He then sprayed a fire extinguisher into the apartment before he and another man in white managed to pull the boy to safety.

Moments later, the flames spread to the balcony.

"I smashed the glass, and the heat wave coming from inside was suffocating. When I got the boy out, he was already a bit unconscious," recounted Liang. "Only about ten seconds after we got him out, the flames reached the balcony. It would have been incredibly dangerous if he had not been rescued in time."

Liang and his fellow rescuers subsequently handed the boy over to the police, who arrived at the scene shortly after.

The boy was rushed to the hospital where, thanks to the courage and quick thinking of his rescuers, he was reported not injured seriously.

现场视频显示，一排临街居民楼三楼一户住宅突发火灾，滚滚浓烟从阳台处冒出，一名男童站在阳台的角落来回走动。多名群众在起火住宅外架好一部金属梯，一名红衣男子敲破起火房子的阳台玻璃后，用钳子剪开防盗网，再用灭火器向屋内进行喷射，随后和一名白衣男子携手将男童救出。男童被救出后数秒，屋内大火就蔓延到了阳台。
经过了解，红衣救人男子叫梁永宇，他在附近开了一家店。事发时他看到男童被困在阳台上，屋内烟非常大，估计男童很难坚持到消防员赶到现场，他们便决定做点什么事情。他在现场附近找到一辆货车帮忙，货车停在起火房子边，他和现场群众将梯子架好后，先爬上二楼的露台，再将一部梯子架在露台上，自己带头爬到梯子的顶部。他首先砸破了阳台玻璃，再用钳子剪断部分防盗网，用灭火器对着阳台喷洒灭火后，和其他群众合力将男童救了出来。

“我砸破玻璃后，感觉屋内热浪逼人，靠近的时候很难受。我抱小孩出来的时候，他已经有点昏迷了。小孩被救出来才10多秒，大火就蔓延到阳台上了，如果没有被及时救出来，他会非常危险。”梁永宇说，他们随后将男童交给了赶到的民警手中，民警将男童送往医院救治，所幸并无大碍。
