Passengers on a train in Chongqing, China, were trapped after the train lost power and proceeded to break out of the doors to escape.

On the evening of July 29, the Mawangchang Station of Chongqing Rail Transit Line 2 burst into flames, causing delays for all trains on that line.

Video from inside one train car shows an elderly passenger smashing the door glass with a safety hammer to escape. According to eyewitnesses, the behaviour occurred after being trapped for more than 40 minutes.

Reportedly the air in the compartment was already very thin, and the passengers felt very uncomfortable. Less than two minutes after the man smashed the glass, the carriage door was opened.
