This is the moment hikers crouched on a hillside when they were caught in a storm in Thailand.

The tourists were trekking towards the Pe To Lo Su waterfall in Tak province on August 1, but were battered by harsh winds on their way to the attraction.

Footage shows the locals hunkering down as the gales blew through the hillside area. Below them, thick fog reduced the visibility severely.

Despite the hazardous weather, the group managed to reach their destination safely, a hiker Znook said.

Thailand and neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia are in their annual monsoon rainy season which sees soaring temperatures followed by powerful rain storms in the afternoon leading to widespread flash floods.
