In order to anticipate forest and land fires (karhutla) in Banjarbaru City, South Kalimantan, BPNB also deployed two helicopters to carry out water bombing to extinguish the flames at the location of the forest and land fires.

The two helicopters from BNPB had to be deployed because the location of the forest and peatland fires in the Pengayuan of Jembatan Dua area, Liang Anggang District, Banjarbaru City, was difficult to get water supply.

The strong wind blowing at that location, made the flames spread and spread towards residential areas. Apart from that, the strong winds also caused the smog to disrupt the flow of traffic on the National Road which connects a number of districts and cities in South Kalimantan.

One of the BPBD personnel for South Kalimantan Province, Rahmat Hidayat, said that two BNPB helicopters had been dispatched to the karhutla location to extinguish the blaze that had hit the peatlands in the area. However, these efforts have not been able to prevent the blaze from spreading further due to the strong wind conditions at the forest and land fire locations.
