A toddler inadvertently set a motorised tricycle in motion while playing in the driver's seat, causing a tense situation.

The CCTV footage was filmed in Tongren City in Guizhou Province on August 26.

A tricycle, parked by the roadside with its key left in, started moving with the 3-year-old boy at the helm. The mother swiftly reacted and gave chase as the tricycle rolled a short distance, narrowly averting a potentially catastrophic accident.

The younger 1-year-old brother was at risk of being run over but fortunately, the older brother released the handlebars in time, bringing the tricycle to a halt.

Responding to the cries for help, the children's father rushed out and rescued them.

The mother reported that only a minor injury to the back of the child's head occurred, and subsequent medical examination revealed no serious harm.
