From calm to chaos: Pandas given spook whilst chomping on bamboo
Two pandas in southern China abruptly transformed from calm bamboo grazers to startled fluffballs when a keeper threw bamboo shoots their way.
The funny video was filmed in the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding on September 2.
As the two pandas sat face-to-face peacefully munching on their bamboo meal, both of them suddenly rose to their feet, bumping heads in the process. Not stopping there, the duo swiftly turned and synchronized their movements, standing back-to-back. The amusing spectacle had the surrounding tourists in fits of laughter.
The woman who captured the hilarious video, Ms Wu, shed light on what caused the sudden panda pandemonium. She explained that the two pandas, affectionately named "Gaozi" and "Mianmian", were startled when a zookeeper threw bamboo shoots into their cage from the door. This unexpected surprise led to the comedic display caught on camera.
"Pandas are naturally skittish," she commented, adding a word of advice for future visitors. "It's best not to be too loud when touring their enclosures."
The video was provided by Ms Wu.
