This is the amusing moment a panda showed off its sharp teeth while munching on bamboo sticks.

Katyusha was seen eating bamboo inside her enclosure at the Moscow Zoo in Russia.

Footage shows the panda sitting in front of a green container filled with bamboo on July 1.

Her keeper, Uncle Igor, can be heard talking to her as she strips the stalks with her strong teeth.

Although giant pandas have powerful jaws and sharp canine teeth, they do not eat meat. Instead, they consume bamboo almost exclusively, using their strong molars to crush the tough stalks.

Biologically classified as carnivores, pandas have evolved a specialised diet consisting of over 99 per cent bamboo and rarely eat anything else.

Katyusha was born in Russia to parents Dindin and Zhui and lives at the Moscow Zoo under a programme that closely cooperates with Chinese wildlife authorities.

Pandas hold a special place in China, which considers them a national treasure and often sends them abroad as part of diplomatic and conservation partnerships.
