Man suffers intense burns from blowtorch explosion while grilling in China
A man suffered severe burns to his head and hands when the flames from a blowtorch he was using to grill meat suddenly shot up several metres in southwest China.
The terrifying CCTV footage was filmed in the city of Guiyang in Guizhou Province on August 27.
It is believed that the accident might have been caused by excessive pressure in the blowtorch, leading to rapid vaporization and combustion of its fuel.
Blowtorches, which typically use gasoline or kerosene as fuel, emit flames at very high temperatures. They are commonly used for tasks like heating soldering irons and roasting.
The man has been hospitalised for several days, with medical bills already amounting to 60,000 to 70,000 yuan (£6,530 to £7,618).
The video was provided by local media with permission.
