STORYLINE:
Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi and visiting Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi discussed on Wednesday ways to boost bilateral strategic partnership, the Egyptian presidency said in a statement.
Sisi reaffirmed his country's commitment to "fostering closer cooperation with Japan and building on the outcome of elevated bilateral ties to a strategic partnership," according to the statement.
Hayashi, for his part, welcomed the positive progress in the two countries' relations in light of the strategic partnership.
He said Egypt's developmental accomplishments have contributed to the surge in Japanese investments in Egypt.
The two sides also discussed cooperation in the fields of education, energy, transport, and technology.
Besides, they touched on regional and international peace and security issues, the statement added.
