STORYLINE:
The 12th Chinese medical team dispatched to Ghana concluded on Sunday a three-day initiative providing free clinical service for more than 100 Ghanaian workers, and residents of a low-income community in Ghana's Eastern Region.
The beneficiaries include local employees of Sinohydro, a Chinese state-owned company, and low-income residents in the Akuse community who have been struggling to pay their medical bills.
According to Du Yushan, head of the 12th Chinese medical team dispatched to Ghana, it was the seventh free outreach program by the team since their arrival in March.

"(We've been here for) almost half a year and I see a lot of Ghanaian people who need better health care, but they don't get it. So the aim of our medical team here is (to) give them our best and take full advantage of our experience (to offer) better service for them."
Chinese doctors offered free medical checkups and treatment for malaria and later donated a batch of medications to locals.

"This free screening also will help the workers to enjoy and see one or two things that maybe you do not know what is wrong with you. They think about our health, so it is a good thing that they brought to the company, and as well as Ghanaians will also benefit from it."
