Determined rescue volunteers caught 11 wild boars rampaging through a tourist spot in northeast Thailand.

The crew, along with local firefighters, were called to the scene in Sakon Nakhon province following reports that four wild boars had been spotted roaming the area on September 23.

The officers rushed to the scene and found a mother boar and her three piglets loitering near a popular sightseeing spot in the park.

The rescuers initially tried to catch the boar family using ropes, but the animals were able to escape.

The team later laid out a trap using a white cloth into which they cornered the 60kg mother boar. They then chased after and caught the remaining piglets despite it being nighttime.

But before the volunteers could celebrate, they received yet another report of seven more boars spotted in front of the Sakon Nakohn Provincial Fisheries Office.

Local media reported that it took a grueling seven hours to catch all 11 boars.

Authorities believe the animals had been domesticated, but were freed from their pens by recent flash floods.

The wild boar population in Thailand is estimated to be between one and two million individuals. They are found throughout the country but they are most common in the northern and northeastern regions of the country.
