Rampaging wild boar sparks chaotic chase injuring one rescue worker
A rampaging wild boar sparked a chaotic chase that injured one rescue worker in Thailand.
The male bovine disrupted traffic when it ran toward oncoming vehicles at the Khun San intersection in Singburi province on January 18.
Police officers received a report at 8 am and coordinated with wildlife rescuers to catch the boar before it could cause an accident.
Officials said the pig was surprisingly agile and kept avoiding the tranquiliser darts aimed at it as it bolted across a road and headed for a nearby mall.
The officers finally cornered the beast in an enclosed area behind the Chaisaeng Palace Hotel.
To block the boar's exit, they tried to pull a heavy iron gate closed. However, the gate derailed and crushed rescuer Sermsak Rodphan.
Sermsak was rushed to the Singburi Hospital with a broken rib and ruptured lung.
Meanwhile, the rampaging boar was reported to have escaped through the hotel's front entrance and disappeared into a forest along the Chao Phraya River.
