A woman fished out a ceramic tile from her hotpot in a restaurant in southern China.

The video was filmed in Chongqing on October 4.

It was only towards the end of their meal that the shocking discovery was made. In disbelief, Ms Li promptly informed the restaurant staff about the unappetising find.

To their credit, the restaurant promptly waived their bill, acknowledging the distressing situation. Fortunately, no one sustained injuries from this unexpected encounter with the ceramic tile.

The restaurant has yet to provide a concrete explanation for this unusual incident, leaving both Li and her friends understandably unnerved.

Speculation among her friends has led to unsettling thoughts, with some suggesting that the ceramic tile closely resembles bathroom tiling, prompting concerns about hygiene and food safety. The thought of recycled cooking oil has also sent shivers down their spines.

The video was provided by local media with permission.
