This is the heartwarming moment a kind hiker who found a snake being feasted on by ticks carefully removed the parasites from its body.

The man had been walking through a forest in Lopburi province, Thailand to go home when he spotted the injured snake lying in the undergrowth with clusters of ticks latching onto its body on August 10.

Footage shows the Good Samaritan diligently plucking the arachnids, which had grown plump from sucking blood, from the reptile's scales.

Once all the ticks had been removed, the man freed the serpent into a pond, where it was seen swimming away into its natural habitat.

Though ticks are often associated with mammals, they have also been known to infest reptiles like snakes, lizards, and tortoises. These vampiric parasites attach themselves to areas with thin scaling where they can easily pierce through the animals' skin.
