Officers of a Road Opening Party (ROP) of the 25 Army Doctrine Publication (ADP) and the 30 Rashtriya Rifles along with the police from Handwara found and detonated three suspicious gas cylinders by the roadside in northern India's Jammu and Kashmir.
This incident took place in Kralgund Handwara in Kupwara district on October 13.
Visuals showed the increased security in the area after these suspicious cylinders were found. Army vehicles were seen arriving in the area with officers patrolling the space. Later on, a huge blast was heard as the cylinders were detonated successfully. According to a report, these three cylinders were found hidden among the bushes, 100 metres away from the Ganapora crossing. Reacting with alertness, these cylinders were detonated.
After the detonation, these cylinders were examined and it was found that they contained urea, which is not a dangerous substance. But the authorities were working towards investigating the reasons behind these cylinders being kept in this area. Also, this incident is being investigated. Security in this area has been reinforced. Also, the public has been urged to report any suspicious activity they find, to the police.
