Major attack averted ahead of Independence Day in northern India

Police officials, army personnel, and the Border Security Force (BSF) officials asserted thwarting a major attack in northern India's Jammu and Kashmir on August 13.

Visuals of the incident show the alleged person arrested by the authorities along with all his recovered possessions clearly laid out in the police station. Police are examining the explosives while the accused is being walked to be taken under custody.

The realization unfolded in the Mendhar area of Poonch district where the authorities jabbed a suspicious man named Mehmood Hussain, the son of Mohammad Munshi and a resident of Kasbalari. During his personal search, an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) having four sticky bombs and an amount of Rs 10.5 thousand ($ 141) were recovered.

A joint checkpost was established at the first Morh Kotan by a joint team of the police, 72 Battalion BSF, and the Indian army. A First Information Report (FIR) numbered 313/2021 under sections 23 of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) was filed at the Mendhar police station and a probe was initiated into the matter.
