Massive blaze engulfs several houseboats on lake in northern India

Five houseboats were burnt completely after a massive fire broke out in Dal Lake, located in northern India's Jammu and Kashmir.

This incident happened in Srinagar on November 11.

Visuals showed the horrifying scenes of the flames engulfing the houseboats on the lake. They were left completely gutted in the fire with a massive cloud of smoke emanating above the lake. Burnt parts of the boats floated on the water of the lake as the fire brigade officials arrived after receiving information about this incident.

According to a report, the fire broke near Ghat no 10 and quickly spread to the houseboats, destroying them completely. At Least three residential structures also were burnt. Officials of the Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES) rushed to the spot to take control of the situation and were able to put out the fire. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported but it has been estimated that property worth crores of rupees were destroyed in the fire. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained though.
