Male passenger slips while boarding moving train falls into platform gap, rescued
A major tragedy was averted at a railway station when a passenger attempting to board a moving train slipped and fell dangerously close to the gap between the platform and the tracks.
The incident occurred in Karur, Tamil Nadu, southern India, on June 10.
The visuals from the scene capture a heart-stopping moment at a railway platform, where a male passenger is seen attempting to board a moving train. While clinging to the door and trying to run alongside the train, he suddenly slips, losing his footing and falling dangerously close to the platform gap. In a split second, a vigilant constable stationed nearby rushes forward and pulls the man away from the tracks, narrowly preventing a potential tragedy. The police officer's swift action and presence of mind were crucial in saving the passenger’s life.
Speaking to Newslions Media Network, Inspector Radha Krishnan, RPF, Karur, Tamil Nadu, said that the life-threatening incident occurred on Tuesday, when a male passenger slipped while attempting to board the moving Train having Train No. 16844 UR Express (PGTN–TPJ) from Platform No. 1 at 12:10 PM. The passenger, identified as Devaraj (33), a resident of Velayuthampalayam, Karur, had a valid UTS ticket for travel between Karur and Tiruchirappalli. As he tried to board the departing train, he lost his footing and became dangerously entangled in the gap between the platform and the train.
Displaying remarkable presence of mind and quick reflexes, RPF Sub-Inspector Shri S.P. Naidu, who was on duty nearby, rushed to the spot and pulled the passenger to safety within moments. His swift and courageous action averted what could have been a tragic accident. There was no train detention reported following the incident.
