A snake wove around cars at a busy junction in Thailand.

The reptile had slithered onto the road during a red light, but was still on the tarmac when the light turned green at the intersection in Chiang Mai province on May 21.

Footage shows the serpent nearly being crushed as it battled to avoid the oncoming cars.

Onlooker Nan Sarisa said: 'I was happy at first because I saw the snake, which is a lucky omen. So I picked up my phone and filmed it. I thought the snake was going to crawl to the side of the road. I didn't think the light was going to turn green so quickly.

'In the morning, when I drove by on the way to work, the snake wasn't there anymore. I think it's still alive.'
