This is the moment an engineer demonstrated models of 'earthquake-resistant buildings' in China.

Footage shows three plastic mini three-story buildings placed on black cylindrical isolators mounted on a shaking blue platform in Jiangsu.

Each model had a half-filled cup of water on its rooftop. Moments later, the demonstrator switched on the machine on May 17.

The models shook vigorously but impressively did not spill the water, showcasing the shock-absorbing strength of China's seismic isolator technology.

China is prone to seismic activity due to its location along several major fault lines, including the Longmenshan Fault, which caused the devastating 2008 Sichuan earthquake.

This disaster resulted in tens of thousands of casualties and widespread destruction. In response, China has heavily invested in earthquake-resistant technologies to protect lives and infrastructure.
