Police escorted a giant runaway pig back to its pen in Thailand.

Phimai Police Station officers were informed that the escaped farm animal named Gafae was posing a road hazard as it roamed the streets in Nakhon Ratchasima province in the early hours of December 5.

They arrived at the scene and ushered the pig to the roadside as local residents called its owner Anukul Muekkrathok, 36, to retrieve it.

Anukul drove his motorcycle to pick up Gafae, but had difficulties due to its weight. Villagers also used sticks to try to prod the creature into walking.

Finally, the officers thought to use a pot of food to lure Gafae back to its pen.

Footage shows the huge pig, unable to resist the meal, obediently following Anukul as he waved the food container in front of it.

Gafae safely reached the farm, and promptly fell asleep upon entering its enclosure.

Anukul said: 'During the walk back to the pen, Gafae would occasionally stop on the side of the road. The police helped protect it the whole way home because they were afraid of an accident. Gafae must have been tired because it fell asleep right after we got home.'
