This is the moment officers chased a 'crazed' truck driver who fled a police checkpoint in Thailand.

The driver, Chainarong Seera, 28, was stopped by police for an inspection, but raced away on the busy Kanchanaphisek Expressway in Samut Prakan on the outskirts of Bangkok at around 3:30 pm on December 4.

Dramatic footage shows Sam Rong Tai police officers chasing after the rampaging truck, which hit more than 20 vehicles as it wove through traffic on the crowded highway.

The cops shot at Chainarong's tyres, but he pressed on and rammed into a police pickup truck in a desperate bid to escape. However, he was surrounded and arrested by the law enforcers.

Four officers suffered minor injuries in the chase. The road was temporarily closed to clear the area.

Chainarong, who was described as 'rambling' and 'intoxicated', claimed during interrogations that he had been 'shocked' when police flagged him to search his truck.

Authorities said three methamphetamine pills had been found behind the truck driver's seat.

Chainarong was detained at the police station for further investigation.
