This is the shocking moment a motorcycle rider slammed into a truck turning at a junction in Thailand.

Dashcam footage shows the motorbike ramming the Isuzu six-wheeler's right side, flinging its teenage driver onto the roadside in Phayao province on December 7.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Marut Intalue, inspector at the Muang Phayao Police Station, said officers went to investigate after receiving a report at 3 pm.

They found truck driver Worachak Tathong, 35, waiting for police, with Honda Scoopy driver Supassara Rongkananon, 14, injured at the scene.

Supassara was given first aid and was taken to the Phayao Hospital for treatment.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Marut said: 'The truck driver told us he was driving slowly and was making a right turn when he collided with the motorcycle on the adjacent lane.'

The minimum age to drive a motorbike in Thailand is 15.

Thailand has one of the world's worst road safety records. Ministers have set the goal of reducing fatalities from 32.7 deaths per 100,000 people to 12 per 100,000 people by the year 2027.

However, a lack of road safety education in schools along with notoriously easy driving tests, police failures to enforce road laws, and chronic under-investment in infrastructure, all appear to hamper the efforts.
