Russia says it hit Ukrainian fortified positions in Lyman with Su-34 fighter jets
Russia has said that it has hit Ukrainian fortified positions in the Lyman region using Su-34 fighter jets.
The footage reportedly shows a Russian Su-34 fighter jet being prepared for takeoff before it can be seen taking to the skies.
It can then be seen flying at high altitude before dropping FAB-500 unguided aerial bombs.
The footage then cuts to explosions allegedly striking Ukrainian military positions on the frontlines.
The images were obtained from the Russian Ministry of Defence on Monday, January 8, along with a statement claiming: 'The crews of the Su-34 multifunctional supersonic fighter-bombers of the Aerospace Forces (VKS) struck a fortified area and enemy personnel in the Krasnolimansk direction.
'The strike was carried out by FAB-500 unguided aerial bombs with a universal planning and correction module (UMPC), which allows for precise strikes from a safe distance from the line of combat contact.
'Having received confirmation from intelligence that the targets had been destroyed, the crews returned safely to the departure airfield.
'The Su-34 pilot is quoted as saying: 'Today we carried out a combat mission. We struck an enemy-fortified area. All assigned tasks were completed.'
Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, in what the Kremlin is still calling a 'special military operation'.
