A furious British woman allegedly attacked a taxi driver 'because she was afraid he would take her somewhere dangerous' in Thailand.

The unnamed passenger had hailed cabbie Thanakit Romwisai after arriving at the Don Mueang International Airport in Bangkok at around 1 am on December 15.

Thanakit then drove along the popular party street Khaosan Road to take the backpacker to her destination. But while going through an empty and dimly lit street, the woman reportedly began complaining in English, which Thanakit could not understand.

She grew increasingly frantic before allegedly grabbing Thanakit's head from behind and trying to gouge out his eyes.

Shocked Thanakit pulled over at a convenience store and asked an employee who could understand English to interpret for him.

However, the British lady stomped over and took a swipe at Thanakit's phone while he was filming, saying: 'Get that f****** phone out of the way!'

She was later seen pulling her luggage as she went the rest of the way on foot without paying the taxi fare.

Thanakit said the 'drunk' woman had left in her seat a bottle of rum and her passport, which he took to the airport's 'Lost and Found' area.

The convenience store employee told Thanakit the woman had attacked him because she was afraid he was taking her to a dangerous part of the city.

Writing on social media, an angry Thanakit, who also works during the day as a food vendor, said: 'I'm very tired working and this is what I encounter. I drive to make an honest living. This behaviour is not good. No matter what nationality you are, you should respect each other.'

Police have not taken any action against the woman or the taxi driver.
