This is the dramatic moment firefighters rescued a female driver stranded in a flood for 15 hours at Lake Del Valle, California.

The California Highway Patrol coordinated with local firefighters to rescue the woman trapped on top of her overturned car amid the swift currents of a creek on January 23.

Footage shows responders arriving on a CHP helicopter and hoisting the driver up to the aircraft.

Authorities said the woman had tried to navigate the rapidly flowing creek when her vehicle flipped over. She swam out of the car and climb on top of it, but was unable to call for help as she had lost her phone.

The woman had minor injuries and was transported to a hospital.
