This is the dramatic moment panicked shoppers ran as a magnitude 6 earthquake shook a mall in Indonesia.

Footage shows locals rushing out of the building as tremors were felt in Mamuju, West Sulawesi, on Thursday, July 24.

The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported that the quake struck at 9:06 pm local time, with the epicentre located 70 km southwest of Poso at a depth of 10 km.

Authorities added that based on the data, the earthquake is considered shallow and was likely triggered by activity along the Malei Fault.

Indonesia lies along the Pacific Ring of Fire, a region known for frequent seismic and volcanic activity.
