A father accidentally drove off without his daughter after a quick stop to purchase a box of milk in northern China.

The CCTV footage was filmed in the city of Baoding in Hebei Province on January 24.

The morning started off as any other, with the parents driving their daughter to school. However, a routine halt at a store to grab a box of milk turned into an unexpected adventure.

As the daughter placed the milk in the trunk of the car, her father, feeling the pressure of time and concerned about his daughter being late for school, mistakenly thought she had already climbed back into the vehicle. With a sense of urgency, he pressed the accelerator, leaving the site with his wife, unaware that their daughter was still outside.

The daughter, initially confused, followed the car for a few steps, expecting her dad to realise his mistake and stop. To her disbelief, the car sped away, leaving her to chase after it.

The mother, Mrs. Li, later explained that her husband was so preoccupied with the time and the fear of their daughter being late that he drove off without double-checking if she was in the car.

In a twist of irony, the father noticed a girl running after his car, dressed in a school uniform, and thought how similar she looked to his daughter. It was only later that he realised the girl was, in fact, his own daughter.

The family found humour in the situation, relieved that it ended safely and with a funny story to tell.

孩子妈妈李女士介绍，爸爸当时看时间有些紧张，怕孩子迟到，心里有点急，女儿后备箱一关，爸爸以为女儿已经坐在后排上了。拐弯的时候，爸爸后视镜还看到有人跟着车跑，纳闷这个女孩穿着校服怎么给自己女儿一样，后来才反应过来，发现女儿没上车，一家人当时都觉得挺好笑的。
