Woman almost loses arm in attack by pit bull hell hound
This is the horrifying moment a woman almost lost her arm when she was mauled by a pit bull hell hound in Thailand.
The housewife named Fon, 30, and her husband Nong, 33, were visiting homeowner Lamduan Boonrit, 68, when the vicious 10-year-old demon dog named Rod pounced on her in the pensioner's yard in Chiang Mai on March 12.
Shocking CCTV footage shows Fon being knocked over as she was passing by the ferocious beast that had been leashed on a metal post.
Rod sank its teeth into Fon's arm and thrashed her violently as Nong and Lamduan battled to pull it away. However, it refused to let go and nearly tore off the hapless guest's limb.
When Rod finally released its grip, Fon was left limp and bloodied on the floor as her husband ran to call for help.
She was rushed to the Nakornping Hospital for 'serious injuries to the left arm joint'. Doctors said she is now in a safe condition.
Pet owner Lamduan said Rod's original owner was her son, who had been taking care of it since 2022. When her son passed away this February, she began looking for a new owner as she claimed Rod was too aggressive for her to keep in check.
She said: 'I have been looking for someone to adopt Rod because I am too old to control him. I've finally found someone, but the attack happened before Rod could be rehomed.'
She added that she had warned Fon not to come too close to the dog because of its violent tendencies.
Lamduan's neighbour Amnuay Siri, 64, said she had been manning her store when she heard screams coming from next door.
She said: 'I heard people calling out Rod's name, and knew it had attacked someone. That dog is a menace and this is is not the first time it bit someone in this village.
'I have been worried ever since I learned Lamduan was taking care of a pit bull. I'm relieved it's being taken somewhere else. The neighbourhood feels much safer now.'
Thailand is notoriously unregulated over pets and there are no laws preventing people from keeping dangerous dogs.
In December, a disabled man was killed in a brutal pit bull attack in Chiang Rai province.
Thong Mai Sung, 64, reportedly had his throat torn out by two vicious pit bulls that had escaped from their cage. He was rushed to the Mae Sai Hospital, but succumbed to the grievous injuries.
