A 5-foot cobra was rescued after it had its teeth broken and its mouth superglued shut in Bhainsdehi, Madhya Pradesh.

Footage shows serpent expert Shiv Narvare using a pair of scissors and cotton to slowly open the snake's mouth. He then took the injured cobra to a vet where Dr Jyoti Toppo treated the reptile.

He found that a snake charmer had broken the cobra's teeth.

After receiving treatment, the snake was later released back into the wild.

Local wildlife officials have made efforts have been made to locate the snake charmer but they have not found them yet.

In a shocking case of animal cruelty, a five-foot cobra had its teeth broken by a snake charmer who had then glued its mouth in central India's Madhya Pradesh.

This incident happened in Bhainsdehi Nagar of Betul district on March 13.

Visuals showed snake expert Shiv Narvare use a pair of scissors and cotton to open the snake's mouth which was glued using a super glue. He held the snake carefully and then slowly and gently opened its mouth with the help of the scissors and cotton. He then took to the veterinary where Dr Jyoti Toppo treated the reptile. There weren't any teeth left inside the snake's mouth as it was all broken by the snake-charmer and Dr Toppo dressed the snake's injuries and also was seen applying a spray so that creature could be out of pain and heal quickly. The snake was then put down on the ground and later, captured by Narvare only to be released into the wild a few days later.

According to a report, Narvare got information about this snake-charmer who used to roam about in the area and take money from people after showing them the snake. Meanwhile, he informed officials of the forest department and he managed to take the snake away from him and got it treated. After receiving treatment from Dr Toppo (Veterinary Hospital, Bhainsdehi), the snake was taken by Narvare who kept and treated the reptile for a few days. He then subsequently released the snake into the wild. Meanwhile, officials of the forest department have made a lot of efforts in trying to find out where the snake-charmer was but it was to no avail as he had managed to escape.
