Officials of the forest department rescued a deer after it had strayed into a town in southern India's Tamil Nadu.

This happened in Thalavadi town of Erode district in the state on March 22.

Visuals showed the forest department officials freeing the deer in the wild. The deer was captured by the forest department with the help of locals and tied with ropes before being put in the back of a mini-truck. Later, it was released into the wild. The officers untied the ropes which were tied to the deer's legs and as soon as they were taken off, the wild animal sprung to its feet and ran away into the wild.

It was learnt that the deer had strayed into the town and was subsequently chased by dogs. As per a report, the deer was spotted by locals and it was entangled in a barbed wire. The animal was injured and the forest department reacted promptly after receiving the information.

After receiving information about this, a rescue team from the Talavadi range rushed to the spot and managed to rescue the deer which had suffered injuries. The deer was treated by a local veterinary before being safely released into the wild. The successful rescue operation of this deer was led by S Sathish, the Range Forest Officer of the Thalavadi Forest Range.
