Firefighters battling a forest fire narrowly avoided being hit by a flaming boulder rolling down a mountain in southern China.

The terrifying video was filmed in the Garze Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Sichuan Province on March 19. A massive rock, engulfed in flames, dislodged from the mountainside and hurtled towards the unsuspecting firefighter crew at breakneck speed.

A firefighter was heard shouting to his colleagues: "Watch out the massive rock!"

In a split-second decision, the firefighters sprang into action, swiftly dodging out of harm's way as the fiery projectile narrowly missed them, grazing past with hair-raising proximity.

The wildfire, which broke out near Baizi village on March 15 around 5:00 p.m., continues to rage on, with intermittent flare-ups keeping emergency responders on high alert. As of 6:00 a.m. on March 21, the fire lines are still active, with over 2,000 rescue personnel deployed on the ground to contain the inferno.

The video was provided by local media with permission.
