A 33-year-old employee of Nair Hospital, identified as Rohit Kishor Gurbhani, tragically ended his life by jumping from the 15th floor of a building in western India’s Maharashtra.

The incident took place outside Wockhardt Hospital in Mumbai Central on May 6.

Visuals showed a man standing on the terrace of a building, contemplating silently. Within moments, he took a leap, plunging from the height, tragically ending his life.

According to police reports, the incident unfolded around 4:30 PM on the rooftop of Pukhraj Plaza, within the jurisdiction of Agripada Police Station. Gurbhani, who worked as a registration assistant (RA) at Nair Hospital, had been residing in staff quarters within the same building for several years.

Eyewitnesses reported hearing a woman's scream as Gurbhani leaped from the building, prompting immediate notification to the authorities. He was rushed to Nair Hospital by bystanders where he was pronounced dead upon arrival. Police officials revealed that Gurbhani had a history of schizophrenia and had been undergoing treatment for the past eight years in the psychiatric ward.

The viral video of Gurbhani's fatal jump circulated on social media, raising concerns about mental health support and suicide prevention measures. Agripada Police have registered the case as an instance of sudden death. Gurbhani's tragic demise highlights the need for greater awareness and support for individuals battling mental health challenges within society.
