STORYLINE:

During the spring climbing window, climbers from around the world are gathering in southwest China's Xizang, preparing to challenge the world's highest peak -- Mount Qomolangma.

The Denoels from France arrived at the foot of Mount Qomolangma in mid-May, trying to reach the summit.

It is the first time for Dominique Denoel, the elder brother, to challenge Qomolangma while the second time for Pascal Denoel, who tried to top the summit from the south slope in 2021.

SOUNDBITE 1 (English): PASCAL DENOEL, French climber
"In 2021, we went to the south and I tried (from) the south. But at this time (due) to hurricane at this moment in 2021, so I went to the camp three up to 7,300 meters and I had to return."

SOUNDBITE 2 (English): DOMINIQUE DENOEL, French climber
"We are there on the north face because it's very wide, very nice. Everything is just perfect. We are just ready. I decided to come there because it's an incredible experience to come. Even if I less experimented as they are, it was a unique opportunity to go there."

Located at the China-Nepal border, Mount Qomolangma has an altitude of more than 8,840 meters, with its north part located in Xizang.

The brothers think that sports are a bridge connecting people from diverse cultures and regions.

SOUNDBITE 3 (English): PASCAL DENOEL, French climber
"For myself, I've been a mountaineer for around 10 years and then make expedition all over the world.
We'll have a very nice adventure together, not just on this mountain. Sure the mountain, sure, the summit, but the summit is a long way meeting people, meeting different cultures. So that is the way for us, not just the summit."

SOUNDBITE 4 (English): PASCAL DENOEL, French climber
"Sports can connect people to each other without any other consideration."
