Floods continue to ravage Imphal, Manipur, after Cyclone Remal battered the state last week.

At least four people have died and many more injured as floods took hold of the area.

At least four people have died with 13 injured and over 200,000 people have been affected due to the massive flooding in Manipur following heavy rainfall due to cyclone Remal.

Incessant rainfall since Sunday amid cyclone Remal has caused massive flooding across the northeastern state, with the water levels in most rivers passing through Imphal city increasing rapidly. Due to heavy rainfall in Manipur on May 28 at midnight, various regions of Imphal Valley were completely inundated.

The flood level in Imphal decreased on Friday, the sixth consecutive day of rainfall due to the impact of cyclone Remal, but many areas of Manipur’s capital still remain inundated. While flood levels have been receding because of a reduction in rainfall and the overflowing of major rivers has stopped, some of the worst affected areas such as Lairikyengbam Leikai, Dewlahand, and Sangakpham are still surrounded by water.
