People try to save belongings as floodwaters inundate Da Nang, Vietnam

People in Da Nang, Vietnam, tried desperately to save their belongings as floodwaters suddenly inundated their homes on 14 October.

The flooding happened so suddenly they only had time to pack up a few things and put their motorbikes above the water level.

Locals said that in just a few minutes the waters rose to more than a meter.

It has been described as a historic flood, thanks to tropical storm Son Ca.

It has been reported that nearly 800mm of rain fell in one day and that this was record rainfall for the area, causing severe flooding.

A reported 30,000 homes and thousands of cars were flooded, in addition to five deaths and dozens of injuries.
