This is the moment a graceful Amur leopard is captured in a camera trap, finding a place under a bush to escape the sun and also be hidden from prying eyes.

The clip was recorded on a capture camera in the Land of the Leopard National Park, in Primorsky Krai in the Russian Far East on June 12.

Experts from the Land of the Leopard National Park said in a statement obtained: 'In Russia, a real miracle was accomplished when one of the rarest animals on the planet, the Amur leopard, was saved from extinction.

'At the beginning of the century, the number of this amazing predator decreased to a critical level - only about 35 individuals worldwide.

'However, thanks to the efforts of Russian scientists, ecologists and everyone concerned about the fate of the world, an incredible story of salvation began in the Primorsky Territory.

'With the creation of the Land of the Leopard National Park 12 years ago, guns, axes and flames stopped raging in the forests. Over the years, the number of recorded leopards in Russia has grown to 129, which is a real triumph for Russian science and environmental organisations.

'The Far Eastern leopard is not just a beautiful animal, but a symbol of the health of the entire ecosystem. His well-being suggests that the environment is being restored and life in the wild is improving.

'Let the story of the leopard's rescue become an example for everyone who strives to preserve the beauty and richness of our native nature.'
