A taxi dangled over a huge sinkhole after a road collapsed in northern China.

The video was filmed in Yuncheng City in Shanxi Province on July 6.

Eyewitnesses reported that as the taxi, carrying passengers, reached the intersection, the ground began to shake violently. The taxi’s front wheels immediately dangled over the edge of the newly formed sinkhole, with the vehicle teetering dangerously.

Fortunately, the quick-thinking taxi driver, Mr. Li, managed to halt the car just in time, preventing it from plunging into the pit. No injuries were reported, but the incident caused significant disruption to local traffic.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the sinkhole was caused by a rupture in the underground drainage system. The pipes, which had been in use for an extended period without adequate maintenance, had severely deteriorated. Recent heavy rainfall exacerbated the situation by increasing the pressure on the ageing pipes, leading to the eventual collapse.

In response to the emergency, the city management bureau promptly activated an emergency response plan, sending repair crews to the site for urgent repairs. Meanwhile, the traffic police imposed temporary road closures to ensure the safety of pedestrians and vehicles.

Thanks to the relentless efforts of the repair teams, the collapsed road section has been initially stabilised, and the damaged drainage pipes are currently being replaced.

事件发生后，运城市城市管理局迅速组织人员赶赴现场进行处置。经初步调查，此次路面塌陷的主要原因是地下排水管网爆裂。由于该段地下管网使用时间过长，缺乏必要的维护和检修，管道老化严重。加之近期连续强降雨，管道承受的压力急剧增大，最终导致爆裂并引发路面塌陷。

面对这一突发事件，城市管理局立即启动了应急预案，组织抢修人员赶赴现场进行紧急维修。同时，交警部门也对该路段实施了临时交通管制，确保过往行人、车辆的安全。经过抢修人员的连续奋战，目前塌陷路段已得到初步处理，受损的地下排水管网正在更新更换中。
