This is the dramatic moment residents were swept away by floods surging into an underground car park.

Five men were washed away when the torrents from heavy rain outside gushed into the building in Xianning, Hubei, China, on July 1.

Footage shows a local running away as water flows in, along with three men lying on the ground being carried by the strong current.

Another person can be seen being swept away by the filthy water.

According to authorities, the sandbag barriers were broken, allowing the floodwaters to enter.

Fortunately, the men did not sustain any injuries from the disaster as the water subsided later on.
