This is the nail-biting moment a quick-thinking policeman pulls a pension from the path of a speeding train after he stumbles and falls on the tracks.

Footage filmed at a station in Ivatsevichy, in the Brest region of Belarus, shows the man stumbling as he tries to cross the tracks.

But as he falls to the ground a passenger train tears through the station.

Then as he struggles to get back to his feet and other passengers dither, the cop, named locally as Ivan Nikolaevich, runs onto the tracks.

As the train bears down on them, he scoops the stricken OAP up in his arms and sprints to the other side, scrambling onto the platform with just a second to spare.

After the footage was shared online on July 2 locals hailed Ivan a hero.

One eyewitness Tatyana Nikolaevna Gatsukovich said: 'There was no time to think, it was necessary to act.'

She added: 'In a critical situation, Ivan Nikolaevich was able to make a quick decision, did not lose his head and saved a man's life.

'I hope that such an act will not go unnoticed and the heroism of a real officer will be noted.'
