A high-speed truck crash sent a bus plunging down a steep embankment, killing one in southwest China.

Dramatic CCTV footage filmed in Bijie City in Guizhou Province on July 12, shows a bus driving downhill when a speeding truck from its left suddenly appeared and smashed into it.

The truck lost control and flipped over, while the bus broke through the roadside barrier and plunged down a steep embankment, which was nearly level with the second floor of the adjacent buildings.

Firefighters promptly dismantled the deformed vehicle to free trapped passengers, while medical personnel provided emergency care to the injured and transported them to the hospital for further treatment.

The cause of the accident is currently under thorough investigation by the traffic police. Preliminary analysis suggests that the truck driver might have been speeding, negligent, or violating road safety laws.
