High-speed truck crash sends bus plunging down steep embankment in China
On the morning of July 12, a serious traffic accident occurred near the East Station intersection on Ring Road in Liuqiao Subdistrict, Weining County, Bijie, Guizhou Province. A large truck violently collided with a downhill bus, resulting in the tragic death of the truck driver and injuries to multiple passengers on the bus.
Surveillance footage shows that the bus was driving normally on a downhill section when a large truck suddenly sped in from the left and collided forcefully with the bus. The immense impact caused the truck to lose control and overturn, while the bus broke through the roadside barrier and plunged down a steep embankment. The height difference of the slope was nearly level with the second floor of a nearby building, creating a shocking scene.
After the accident, local emergency departments responded quickly and launched rescue operations. Firefighters dismantled the deformed vehicles to free trapped passengers, while medical personnel provided emergency treatment to the injured and transported them to the hospital for further care. According to emergency room staff at Weining County People's Hospital, several injured individuals from the scene were admitted that day.
As for the cause of the accident, traffic police are conducting an in-depth investigation. Preliminary analysis suggests that the truck driver may have been speeding, distracted, or otherwise in violation of traffic safety laws. However, the exact cause is still under investigation. Relevant authorities will also inspect the accident site to assess the impact on the surrounding environment and traffic, and will formulate appropriate repair and traffic management measures.
