This is the dramatic moment an injured mountaineer was evacuated from a hillside in Spain.

Two Greim specialists and a Guardia Civil helicopter crew retrieved the hiker, who suffered a shoulder dislocation after a fall during a trek with his companions in Collado del Frade, Valle de Sajambre, on July 31.

Footage shows the rescuers helping the victim carefully board the aircraft.

Following initial treatment, the mountaineer was airlifted to Riano's football field, where an awaiting ambulance transferred him to a nearby hospital for further medical care.

The Guardia Civil's aerial unit in Leon, comprising two pilots and a mechanic, alongside Greim specialists, remains on standby 24/7 to respond swiftly to mountain emergencies.

This rescue marks the 15th intervention in the mountains this year, emphasising the important role of emergency services in securing the safety of mountain enthusiasts.
