An enraged cow emerged from tall in a mountain and chased away terrified hikers.

The free-ranging bovine was feeding on bushes near a hiking trail when it spotted a group of visitors in Benguet, the Philippines on November 30.

Footage shows the juvenile farm animal seemingly furious over its lunch being disturbed charging at the queue of adventure-seekers that were exploring Mount Kabunian.

It backed away when a calm guide sprayed water at it from a bottle but went to run after one of the hikers who went off trail to the mountainside.

One of the mountaineers Pauline Jan Mantele said: 'It was getting dark so we started descending after five hours of climbing.

'On the way down we saw the cow. We tried to avoid it but it still followed us.'

Despite the cow showing them aggression, it did not hurt them and the group descended unharmed.
