A hapless hiker clambered up a fallen tree to snap some selfies but became stuck in the branches.

Rima Herlyana found the hardwood blocking the trail and clambered along the bark to get a better background for her souvenir photos.

However, Rima was stuck on a branch while trying to descend before her friends helped her in Banten province, Indonesia.

Footage shows Rima perched 6ft above ground while her mountain climbers, Rya and Putri, tried to help her down.

She slipped backwards and clung to the trunk with her legs while her friends supported her head.

The trio were laughing uncontrollably, so the DIY rescue operation took longer.

Rima said: 'Climbing is a fun activity in nature for us, and we always have the most unexpected experiences happen along the way.

'Although tiring, we always enjoy every trip. This time we climbed Mount Aseupan in Banten with a height of 1174 meters above sea level.

'This mountain is not too high, but the tracking can take hours, and the track is steep and very challenging. But we are always happy and often laugh because of our silly behaviour.'

The girls successfully extracted Rima without her being hurt on May 29.
