Families and colleagues sprayed fire hoses on a fireman and his wife in this epic gender reveal party.

The couple's loved ones organised the unique surprise for them beside the river to celebrate the incoming arrival of their baby in Manila, the Philippines on August 9.

Footage shows the firefighters holding the large hoses into the air to spill into the waterway while they all stood on a bridge.

Ten seconds later, the water turned into a faint colour blue after one of the relatives poured the food colouring onto the source, revealing the couple, Michael Recones and Shaire Empleo are expecting a baby boy.

One of the relatives popped a party popper with blue confetti to celebrate the moment.

The couple's friend Aritha Aina Carino who is also a fire volunteer said: 'We thought about the idea since Michael is a firefighter. It was a happy moment for all of us who were present.'

Gender reveal parties have become popular for expectant parents to share the news of their baby's gender with family and friends. Media and celebrity culture have popularized the practice, influencing more people to adopt it.
